Yalobusha Historical Society Minutes – March 21, 2013

Dr. Evans

“Scheduled heart surgery can be reversed; emergency heart surgery cannot be reversed.” These were the opening remarks of Yalobusha Historical Society speaker, Dr. John Evans, a retired orthopedic surgeon. On March 21, 2013 Dr. Evans shared:
Patients want a prescription when they come to see a doctor.  They do not want to hear a change in their lifestyle. They have a hard time believing that simple choices we make in everyday living can a powerful difference in our health, our well-being, and our survival.
Dr. Dean Ornish has directed a series of scientific research studies showing, for the first time, that the progression of even severe coronary heart disease can often be reversed by making comprehensive lifestyle changes.Because of the results of his studies, First Lady Hillary Clinton asked Dr. Ornish to meet with the White House Chefs after President Clinton’s heart problems.
Awareness is the first step in healing.  When we become more aware of how powerfully our choices in diet and lifestyle affect us – for better and for worse – then we can make different ones.  It’s like connecting the dots between what we do and how we feel.
Your new diet should change to vegetables, fruits, and beans.  Consume no meat, no dairy, no eggs, and almost no oil
Practice moderate exercise such as walking three to five times a week.
So remember scheduled heart surgery can be avoided.  Eliminate biological rust by changing your diet and exercising moderately.  How much you want to change is up to you.
