William “Bill” Hudson
WATER VALLEY—William “Bill” Hudson of the Sylva Rena Community, Yalobusha County, died at his home Saturday, October 5, 2013.
He was born November 12, 1931 to the late James Clifton and Ruby Gibson Hudson. Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served in the occupation forces in Okinawa. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated B&L Repair, later known as Tri-Lakes Refrigeration in Water Valley. He was passionate about sports and was an avid Celtics, Cardinals, and Ole Miss fan. From 1967 until 1997 Bill was the announcer for the Water Valley High School football games. Bill enjoyed working with wood and making furniture and he dearly loved spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church.
Visitation was held Tuesday, October 8, in Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 10 until 11:30 a.m. A graveside service followed at noon in the Sylva Rena Cemetery with Bro. James West officiating. Kelly Harvey, Dell Harvey, Ben Nelson, Scott Russell, Trent Champion, and David Johnson served as pallbearers. Edwin Bonner, Frank Lee Brown, and Dewayne Dean will be honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Hudson is survived by a daughter, Kim Hudson of Ocala, Fla.; a son, Lynn Hudson (Tonda) of Moweaqua, Ill.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and a special caretaker, Martha Faye Dean.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Betsy “Bet” Lakey Hudson; and his brother, James Hudson.
Kase Hebron Swinkowski
WATER VALLEY—Kase Hebron Swinkowski, infant son of Jennifer Swinkowski and Chad McDuff, was born Monday, September 30, 2013, in Grenada Hospital, and died Monday, September 30, 2013, in University Medical Center at Jackson.
A graveside service was held at five o’clock in the afternoon, Saturday, October 5, in the Sylva Rena Baptist Church Cemetery with Minister Howard Green officiating.
Kase is survived by his mother, Jennifer Swinkowski, and his father, Chad McDuff, both of Water Valley; his sister, Jaclyn Swinkowski of Water Valley; three brothers, John Travis Swinkowski and Jacob Swinkowski, both of Water Valley, and Ethan McDuff of Philadelphia, Miss.; his grandparents, Travis and Becky York of Water Valley, and Joy Baker of Duck Hill; and two uncles, Ken McDuff (and family) of Beaumont, Texas, and Brian York of Water Valley. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Kyle York.
