Robert Lee ‘Bobby’ Williams

HERNANDO–Robert Lee “Bobby” Williams, age 69, died December 2, 2013 at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven after a brief illness.
Mr. Williams was born in Grenada on November 20, 1944.  He was a graduate of Water Valley High School in 1962.  Following his high school graduation he attended Northwest Junior College where he played quarterback.  He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in physical education.  Following a brief coaching career at Belzoni High School he attended Jackson School of Law.  
Mr. Williams was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1972 and began a private practice in Water Valley.  While there, he served as the city judge. In 1977 he relocated to Desoto County where he joined the District Attorney’s office as an assistant DA.  In 1984 he was elected District Attorney for the 17th Judicial District, where he served four consecutive terms.  His public service to the District Attorney’s office spanned a period of 23 years. Upon retirement he returned to private practice in Hernando at Williams and Williams Law Firm.  
He is survived by his children, Robert Lee Williams, Jr. and Elizabeth Paige Williams, both of Hernando and their mother, Alice Williams of Water Valley.  He is also survived by his sister, Diana Williams Hurt; her  husband, Pete Hurt; and nephew, Clint Hurt of Flowood.  He leaves behind his pride and joy, his granddaughter, Tori Williams.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Murray and Kate Williams of Water Valley and his daughter–in-law, Amy Williams.
 He also leaves a plethora of friends who shared his love for the St. Louis Cardinals and Ole Miss Rebels.   
Visitation will be held 5 pm to 8 pm Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Hernando Funeral Home.   Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 5, at Hernando Funeral Home with interment at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be sent to the local charity of the donor’s choice.
