Andrea Collier Holloway Dykes

MILLINGTON, Tenn. — Andrea Collier “Collie” Holloway Dykes, age 44, died at her home in Millington, Tenn. on June 15, 2014.
She was born in Oxford on February 14, 1970, to the late John W., Jr. and Jerry Berry Holloway. Collie grew up in Water Valley and graduated from Mississippi State University.  She worked many years as a radiology test scheduler at Methodist Hospital in Memphis and later worked for Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis as a home medical supply clerk.  
Collie enjoyed going to the beach, buying and selling antiques, and she loved labrador retrievers. She was a huge Tim McGraw fan, enjoyed listening to country music and spending time with family and friends. Collie was a member of First Baptist Church in Water Valley.
Visitation is scheduled Monday, June 30, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley.  A memorial service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks.
Collie is survived by her brother, John Holloway (Toni) of Oakland; three step-daughters, Felicia Logan, Andrea Brown and Kimberly Jones; one step-son, Logan Dykes; four step-grandchildren; two nieces, Leslie Frances Holloway and Lauren Leigh Holloway, both of Water Valley; two nephews, Christopher Brent Holloway (Gretchen) of Madison and Aaron Wyatt Holloway of Oakland; two great nieces and one great nephew; and a host of close friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Andrew “Drew” Dykes and her step-grandson, Christopher Dykes.

Dessie Fondon

BELLWOOD, ILL. — Mrs. Dessie Mae Fondon, age 66, of Bellwood, Ill., formerly of Water Valley, died Friday, June 13, 2014.
    Born December 26, 1947, Mrs. Fondon was a daughter of the late Kizer Fondon and Lena Mae Morgan. She was the third of seven children and was preceded in death by one brother, Kizer Maurice Fondon.
    Dessie attended and graduated from Davidson High School. She confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of the Church of Christ. She later became a member of Jordan Temple Baptist Church, and was there until the time of her passing. She was employed by Zenith Electronics for 31 years and Fresenius Kabi for 13 years, until her retirement. She was the proud parent of Kimberly Fondon-Ellis. Dessie was hard working, kind, no-nonsense and family oriented.
    She leaves one daughter, Kimberly Fondon-Ellis (Richard) of Bellwood, Ill.; a grandson, Richard Ellis, Jr.; four sisters, Lucille Murry, Martha (Hayward) Jones, both of Maywood, Ill., Laura (Lowell) Moss of Carrier-Mills, Ill. and Betty Fondon of Water Valley; one brother, Micheal (Ann) Fondon of Water Valley; a step-daughter, Aija McSwine of Broadview, Ill.; a special friend, James Jordan of Hillside, Ill.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
  The funeral service was held Tuesday, June 24, at one o’clock in the afternoon in Serenity Daniels Funeral Home at Water Valley, which was in charge of arrangements.

Frances Mary Kappes

WATER VALLEY—Frances Mary Kappes, 87, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at her home near Water Valley.
    Born in Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Kappes had lived in the area since 1991. Having worked in retail sales, she was a retired homemaker. Mrs. Kappes enjoyed knitting and taking care of her family.
    A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford was in charge of local arrangements.
    Survivors include her husband, Ronald Joseph Kappes of Water Valley; six daughters, Carolyn Denny and Barbara Denny, both of Tacoma, Wash., Ellen Bucci of Crest Hill, Ill., Doris Johnson of Banner, Linda Morgan of Tremont, and Carol Reiman of Blue Mountain; one son, Jack Johnson of Paris; one sister, Sharon Musser of Baribou, Ill.; 22 grandchildren; and 52 great-grandchildren.
  She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia Stubblefield, one son, Michael Johnson, three brothers, George Stubblefield, Al Stubblefield, and Jimmy Kabilis, and one sister, Bonnie Hixon.
