Groundbreaking For New Jail

Construction is gearing up for the new county jail and county officials had an informal ground breaking last Thursday as the concrete footing was poured for the facility. The group includes (from left) supervisors George Suggs, Tommy Vaughn, Amos Sims, Frank “Bubba” Tillman, Lee McMinn and Sheriff Lance Humphreys.  The new jail will cost around $3 million and house a maximum of 65 inmates. The project will be completed next year.
