WATER VALLEY – County employees will get a $50 monthly raise in the coming fiscal year that starts October 1. The raises come after county officials fine-tuned the 2014-15 budget during a recessed meeting last Thursday.
The  cost for the raise for the 29 employees paid out of the general fund will cost an estimated $21,471.60.  Another $2,900 will come from each district’s road and bridge fund to give the road hands the $50 raise. The raise was also extended to the six employees working in the county’s public library system.
The upcoming budget also includes a small millage decrease, a third of a mill for the courthouse renovation bond levy after the fund had a surplus allowing the tax decrease.
A public hearing on the budget is scheduled on September at the Coffeeville Courthouse at 9 a.m.
