School Slots On Nov. Ballot

WATER VALLEY – The qualifying period for school board elections is underway, with two slots on the November ballot in the Water Valley School District and one in the Coffeeville School District.
In Water Valley, the slots include a five-year term for District 3 and a partial term in District 1. Pierce Epes is the incumbent in District 3. In District 1, Bryan Gilley was appointed last year after former trustee Chris Terry stepped down in October and the school board appointed Gilley to fill the position until the 2014 General Election. Both Epes and Gilley told the Herald they plan to qualify.
In Coffeeville, the District 3 slot for a full five-year term will be on the ballot. Gerald Booker currently serves as the District 3 trustee.
Circuit Clerk Daryl Burney reported the Water Valley School District lines will reflect changes implemented after the 2012 redistricting. The deadline to qualify for the races is Sept. 5.
