Sales Tax Collections Are Up In August For Municipalities

WATER VALLEY – Tax disbursements for municipalities derived from a percentage of sales tax paid in August have been issued to municipalities with Water Valley, Oakland and Coffeeville all receiving a slight bump from the corresponding month in 2013.
The City of Water Valley received $41,833.75 as its share. During the state’s previous fiscal year that ran from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014, the sales tax funds coming back to Water Valley were flat, dropping a quarter of a percent to $474,617.27 in the 12 month period.
In Coffeeville, the disbursement from August was $9,569.77 up $620.50 from the previous August. However the previous fiscal year showed an eight percent drop with Coffeeville collecting $113,884.93 during the 12-month period.
In Oakland, the allocation from August was $7,481.68, up almost 20 percent from August, 2013. During the previous fiscal year, the disbursement was flat, up only a percent to $70,862.21.
