WATER VALLEY – An investigation continues into the Oct. 19 shooting that left a 26 year-old man dead.
Water Valley Police Chief Mike King reported that Keith Murray, Jr., was discovered deceased in the back yard of Apartment CH 21 on Charlie Harris Street in the Water Valley Housing Authority after an altercation. King said his officers responded after receiving a 911 call around 2:48 a.m. about suspicious activity in the vicinity.
King said the investigation is ongoing with help from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, who also responded to the scene along with the Mississippi Crime Lab technicians.
Murray had lived in the apartment for almost a year with his girlfriend and King said he wasn’t aware of problems during that time. He also said Murray had moved from Marshall County.
Yalobusha County Coroner Ronnie Stark pronounced Murray dead at the scene and said his body was sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy. Stark said the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest.
Funeral services were held last Saturday, October 25, at the Potts Camp Gymnasium.
