New Restaurant Is On Hold

WATER VALLEY – A potential new restaurant in Water Valley is on hold after the owner expressed concern with the city’s revised beer ordinance.
Chef Beau Bailey has worked since October on plans to open an upscale restaurant on Main Street.  Bailey told the Herald he had met with city officials during this time after learning his prospective business location at 428 North Main Street was less than 150 feet distance requirement from the First Presbyterian Church, as specified in the ordinance.
With the revised ordinance, the distance requirement can be waived with consent from the church, but Bailey told the Herald the restrictions, both in the revised ordinance and the waiver, are not business friendly.
“The people in Water Valley have been very welcoming, and very receptive to us coming here,” Bailey told the Herald. “We want to be in Water Valley and are still committed to this location, but everything is on hold until this gets resolved.”
