Mary Elizabeth Camp

WATER VALLEY—Mary Elizabeth Camp, age 92, died Monday, December 15, 2014, in Baptist Memorial Hospital—North Mississippi at Oxford.
Born March 6, 1922, in Water Valley, Mrs. Camp was a daughter of the late Griffin G. and Lena Carr Hardy. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School in Water Valley, where she is remembered for her outstanding athletic ability as a basketball player.  After graduating from high school she married William Louie Camp and together they owned and operated Camp Motor Company, where she retired as office manager and bookkeeper.  Elizabeth was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved taking care of her family and others. Until her health failed she was a faithful member of the Water Valley Church of Christ.
Visitation was held Thursday, December 18, from one until two o’clock in the afternoon in Seven Oaks Funeral Home at Water Valley. The funeral service followed at two o’clock in the Henry Chapel of the funeral  home, with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Water Valley with Brad Camp, Chase Camp, Billy Joe Dorris, John Forsyth, Alan Wilbourn, Steve Thompson and Griff Camp as pallbearers. Terry Hardy, Grant Thompson, Paul Forsyth, Alan Hardy, Jacob Ellis,Ted Camp, Daniel Wolf, Matt Dalton and Griff Forsyth were honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Camp is survived by a daughter, Marvelene Camp McCullar of Senatobia; two sons, William Griffin Camp of Jackson, Tenn. and Bobby Louie Camp of Oxford; three sisters, Dot Forsyth, Nancy Wooten, and Julia Thompson, all of Water Valley; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Louie Camp, and her brother, Jack Hardy.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Pine Valley School House Fund, 940 CR 100, Water Valley, MS 38965.

Wallace Forsyth

WATER VALLEY—Wallace Forsyth, age 83, died Monday, December 15, 2014, in Baptist Memorial Hospital—North Mississippi at Oxford.
Born February 19, 1931 in Pine Valley, he was a son of the late J. W., Sr. and Christine Camp Forsyth. Wallace was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Water Valley, where he served as a deacon and as Sunday School superintendent. He was retired from the Water Valley Post Office after many years of service. Wallace was an avid Ole Miss football fan and was an usher at the games for years. He was also a devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing, looking for treasures with his metal detector, and spending time with his sons.
A graveside service was held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, December 18, in Oak Hill Cemetery at Water Valley, with Bro. Bill Forsyth officiating. Richard Baird, Curtis Berry, Rochester Buford, Arnold Wayne Carothers, Danny Wayne Edwards and Bob Brooks were pallbearers. Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley had charge of arrangement.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dot Hardy Forsyth of Water Valley; two sons, John Forsyth of Water Valley and Paul Forsyth of Harriman, Tenn.; a sister, Mary Forsyth Shepard of Horn Lake; three grandchildren, Griff Forsyth, Paul Snider, and Steven Snider.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Katie Forsyth Thompson.

Ruthie Hayse Griffin

WATER VALLEY—Ruthie Hayse Griffin, age 77, died Sunday, December 21, 2014, in Sanctuary Hospice House at Tupelo.
Born December 24, 1937, in Thaxton, Mrs. Griffin was a daughter of the late Connie and Pauline Carroll Hayse. Ruthie was a devoted mother and grandmother, who loved animals, cooking, being outdoors and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 27, from 11 a.m. until noon in Seven Oaks Funeral Home at Water Valley. A memorial service will follow visitation at 12 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of the funeral home with Bro. Lynn Jones officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Kay (Lyle) Montesi of Germantown, Tenn. and Deborah Fullerton of Water Valley; two sons, James (Barbara) Griffin and Marty Griffin, all of Water Valley; a sister, Ruby Doris Meritt of Corpus Christi, Texas; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marrell McKinley Griffin, Sr. and her daughter, Brenda Griffin.

Bernice Sandidge Holder

WATER VALLEY—Bernice Sandidge Holder, age 93, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at her residence in Water Valley.
Born May 18, 1921, in Jackson, Mrs. Holder was a daughter of the late Johnnie William and Velma Pearl Allen Sandidge. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed crocheting, camping, traveling, and reading. She loved writing poetry and had self-published two books of her writings. Bernice was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother,who enjoyed caring for and spending time with her family.
Visitation was held from noon until 2 p.m. on Friday, December 19, in Seven Oaks Funeral Home at Water Valley. The funeral service began immediately following visitation at 2 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Brad Burnett and Rev. David Taylor officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Water Valley with David Stevens, Al Stevens, Lee Hutcherson, Roy Bennett Stevens, Andrew Holder, and Chris Scruggs as pallbearers. Ray Dill and Sam Westcot were honorary pallbearers.
Survivors include her husband, Willis Aaron Holder of Water Valley; her daughter, Joy Scott of Southaven, a son, Allen Holder of Olive Branch; five grandchildren, Candice (Sam) Westcot of Southaven, Andrew Caleb Holder of Oxford, Fauna (Richard) Gueterrez and Donald Wayne Holder, Jr.,  all of Yacoma, Washington, and Lee Allen (Stephanie) Hutcherson of Olive Branch; and seven great-grandchildren.
  In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her step-sons,  Donald Wayne Holder, Sr. and William Holder, and her brother, Charlie Sandidge.

Alya Jade Milstead

WATER VALLEY—Alya Jade Milstead, age 36, died at 4:56 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014, at her home in Water Valley.
Born February 28, 1978, in Grand Rapids, Mi., she was a daughter of Karen S. Weilbacher. Alya was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed reading, listening to music and spoiling her two nieces and nephew. She was employed in Oxford as shift lead at both Back Yard Burger and Zaxby’s and she loved spending time with her family and friends.  Alya’s kind heart and sweet gentle spirit will be greatly missed.
Visitation was held from 10 until 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, in Seven Oaks Funeral Home at Water Valley. The funeral service followed visitation at eleven o’clock in the Henry Chapel of the funeral home, with Bro. Billy Childs officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Church Cemetery with Alex Franco,  Aidan “Pockets” Nagle, Jason Sharp, Carson Sharp, Collin Sharp, Scott Ross, John C. Tyler, Ross Ingram, and Kurtz Merritt as pallbearers. Garland Gholson and Jim Gholson were honorary pallbearers.
Alya is survived by her parents, David and Karen Weilbacker of Water Valley; her sister, Kamika  Alvarenga of Oxford; two nieces, Isabel Milstead and Olivia Cerrano; a nephew, Alexander Franco, all of Oxford; her grandfather, Aubrey Milstead of Water Valley; an uncle, Michael Milstead of Water Valley; and her great aunt, Fay Ross of Water Valley; several cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Katie Turner Sprouse

WATER VALLEY—Katie Turner Sprouse, age 82, died Monday, December 22, 2014, in Yalobusha General Nursing Home at Water Valley.
Born September 28, 1932, in Yalobusha County, Mrs. Sprouse was a daughter of the late John and Ruth Eubanks Turner. She was a retired housekeeper for Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley. She was a member of the Red Hats Club. Mrs. Sprouse enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, canning vegetables and making jelly, fishing, working in her flowers, and spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 27, from 1-3 p.m. in Seven Oaks Funeral Home at Water Valley. The funeral service will follow visitation at three o’clock in the afternoon in the Henry Chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Crest Memorial Gardens in Yalobusha County with Willie Pullen, Lee Pullen, Kenny Goolsby, Chuck Turner, Ronnie Eubanks, Lee Turner, Jerry Sprouse and Mike Dunn as pallbearers.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy (Lester) Smith of  Water Valley and Melissa (Richard) Willhite of Water Valley; three sons, Larry (Marcia) Sprouse of Water Valley, Robert  Wayne Sprouse of Taylor and William Lynn Sprouse of Southaven; a sister, Pearl Dollar and her brother, Kuron Turner, both of Sepanto, Ark.; 12 grandchildren;12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Robert Sprouse.
