COFFEEVILLE – Thirty members and guests gathered at the Yalobusha Historical Society’s  (YHS) Christmas party to make a joyful noise as Shirley Berry, talented local vocalist, accompanied by Emma Hovey, led in Christmas Carols in their annual Christmas meeting on December 18.
    Notes of interest:
    • Julia Fernandez called the meeting to order in the absence of Mike Worsham.
    • Lawrence Litten voiced a prayer.
    • Debby Hughes gave the monthly financial report.
    Julia Fernandez announced that YHS member Kay McCulley is the January 15 speaker. Her topic will be Colonel M. D. L. Stephens, 1829-1911.  He served in the 17th the first year of the “war” and later transferred to the 31st Mississippi and eventually rose to the rank of Colonel.
    Attending the YHS meeting were Debby Hughes, Ruth Perkins, John Perkins, Bobbie Hutchins, Bobby Hutchins, Julia Fernandez, Shirley Berry, Jimmy Berry, Jacob Berry, Wayne Turner, Francine Pinnix, Emma Hovey, Dave Hovey, Kay McCulley, Mike Ayers, Bill Hamilton, Betti Litten, Lawrence Litten, G. C. Vaughn, Sue T. Fly, Kathryn French, Kay F. Rodick, Jean Scobey, Mark Scobey, Sarah H. Williams, Mae Vick, Jimmie Pinnix, Joy Tippit, Opal Wright, Pat Brooks and Carl Vick.
