COFFEEVILLE – The Coffeeville Police Department is searching for two men wanted in connection with an armed robbery on Christmas Eve at Rascals Express.
Coffeeville Police Chief Mark Martin reported both men brandished weapons during the robbery that took less than a minute the night of Dec. 24. A customer and two employees were in the store at the time of the robbery.
“They pointed the guns at the clerk and customer,” Martin told the Herald. “They come up on foot and left on foot,” he added. The pair left with an undisclosed amount of cash from the heist. Martin said both men were African-American and had their faces covered, making it difficult for the store’s surveillance video to capture images. One of the men was wearing a dust mask and the second was wearing some type of black cloth over his face.
Martin said his department continues to follow leads and the case remains under investigation. The chief also said anyone with information about the crime is urged to contact Yalobusha County Crime Stoppers. The organization will pay up to $1,000 for information about this crime. You can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-933-TIPS or 473-4935.
Tips can also be sent by email to: TIPS@ Yalobusha County.net. Crime Stoppers callers are never required to reveal their identity nor testify in court.
Martin also reported a second armed robbery of an individual that was leaving a barber shop on Dec. 22 in what is likely an unrelated case. Three men took cash from the victim at gunpoint.
“He identified all three of them,” Martin said about the case.
Showusky Logan was taken into custody on Dec. 23 and charged with armed robbery and police are looking for the other two men wanted in connection with the incident. Martin said Logan was booked into the Yalobusha County Jail. Logan was already out on probation from an earlier felony conviction and will be turned over to the Mississippi Department of Corrections for the violation.
