Millsaps College Chamber Choir Present Concert Sunday

The Millsaps College Chamber Choir will present a concert at Water Valley First United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 2, at 5:30 p.m. A reception will follow.  Choir director, Jonathan Trotter, served as director of the Water Valley FUMC  sanctuary choir in 2012-13 when he was completing his Master of Choral Conducting degree at the University of Mississippi.  In addition, he was a member of the Men’s Glee Club, Concert Singers and directed the Women’s Ensemble at Ole Miss.  Currently, he is a candidate for a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from the University of South Carolina. 

The membership of Chamber Singers, some 14 students, is chosen from the large choral ensemble of the Millsaps Choir.  The repertoire for the Chamber Singers centers around sacred literature, both a cappella and accompanied, including American folk hymns and spirituals as well as classical selections.

 “We are excited to host this choir whose international concerts most recently were presented when they toured Greece.” said Rev. Allen McGraw.  “Please join us as we welcome them to Water Valley and meet them at our reception following the concert.”
