Sept. 8 Is Deadline To Qualify For School Positions

WATER VALLEY – The deadline to qualify a one school board slot in the Water Valley School District (WVSD) and another in the Coffeeville School District (CSD) is  Friday, Sept. 8, at 5 p.m.  Circuit Clerk Daryl Burney reported that qualifying for Position One in both districts is underway. In Water Valley, Bryan Gilley serves as the Position One Trustee. In Coffeeville, Charlotte Dailey is the incumbent for Position One.  The races will appear on the November ballot if there is opposition and the five-year terms start in January.  

Burney also reminded all voters in the county that Saturday, October 7, is the deadline to notify his office of any changes prior to the November 7 General Election. He listed four criteria that would warrant a trip to his offices in Water Valley or Coffeeville before the deadline – if you have moved, had a name change, if you have never registered to vote or if you turn 18 years old before November 7.
