Evelyn Bernice Woods Hall

ENID—Evelyn Bernice Woods Hall, age 88, passed away October 6, 2017, in Baptist Memorial Hospital–North Mississippi at Oxford.

  Born January 13, 1929, in Lambert, Mrs. Hall was a daughter of the late Bolivar Carlisle Woods and Ollie Mae Self Woods. Her husband was George David Hall, Jr., also known as “Dude”. Bernice was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting. She spoiled her hummingbirds every summer with plenty of nectar, and she was a faithful member of Willow Springs Assembly of God Church at Enid. Seven Oaks Funeral  Home of Water Valley was in charge of arrangements.

  The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 9, in Willow Springs Assembly of God Church with Bro. Tommy Darby officiating. Visitation was held Sunday, October 8, from 5-7 p.m. in the church. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery at Enid with Jeff Hall, Rusty Porter, Vince Brummett, Joey Gordon, Charlie Darby and Tommy Hall as pallbearers.

  Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Brummett (Don) of Batesville and Thelma Porter of Enid; two sons, David Hall (Alice) of Enid and Carl Hall (Dorothy) of Raleigh; two sisters, Dora McNatt of Grenada and Ouida Schrader of Holly Springs;  11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George David “Dude” Hall, Jr.; a daughter, Dollie Ann Warren; three sisters, Lucille Tutor, Elise Grimes, and Pearline Flint; seven brothers, Raymond Woods, Russell Woods,Tandy Woods, Paul Woods, Marvin Woods, Wayne Woods, and Jesse Wortham; and one grandchild.

Carolyn Hearn Tyler

WATER VALLEY—Carolyn Hearn Tyler, 76, died October 3, 2017, in North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

  The funeral service was held Thursday, October 5, in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home at Oxford with Rev. Keith Burney and Rev. Michael Haas officiating. Burial followed in South Oxford Methodist Cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday evening, October 4, from 4-7 p.m. in Waller Funeral Home.

  Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Tyler was a daughter of the late Jack and Flora Bell Hearn. She was retired from the North Mississippi Regional Center, where she worked as the clothing coordinator. She was a member of First Assembly of God  in Water Valley. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Wanda Gail Tyler and Peggy Darlene Tyler, and a son, Marion Bruce Tyler.

  She is survived by her husband, Marion Mills (Pete) Tyler of Water Valley; daughters, Kathy Moore (Mickey) of Falkner, Becky Way (Tony) of Water Valley, and Judy Weber (Preston) of Norco, La.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
