Nancy Renell Jones Babb

LAFAYETTE COUNTY—Nancy Renell Jones Babb, 79, died October 21, 2017, at her home in Lafayette County.

  The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 25, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Buster Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Paris Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. prior to the service in the funeral home.

  Born in Crenshaw, Mrs. Babb was a daughter of the late Leonard and Troy Rowe Jones. She was retired from Whirlpool where she worked as an inspector. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society. Along with her love of gardening, she loved to sing and participated in the choir and taught Sunday School at Paris Baptist Church.  Additionally, she enjoyed  cooking and hosting her family every Sunday and on holidays. Mrs. Babb greatly adored her children and grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mitchell Jones.

Survivors include her husband of almost 61 years, Earl Babb of Paris; daughter, Michelle Powell (Stephen) of Southaven; sons, Rickey Babb (Becky) of Oxford, Mickey Babb (Tiffany) of Oxford and Anthony “Tony” Babb of Oxford; sisters,Dorothy Jean Carr of Arkansas and Helen Jones; brothers, Harold Jones of Georgia, James Albert “Butch” Jones of Arkabutla and Charles Jones of Senatobia; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to New Prospect Baptist Church, 823 Highway 334, Oxford,MS 38655, or to the Paris Cemetery Fund.

Larry Lee Smith

WATER VALLEY—Larry Lee Smith, age 63, passed away October 17, 2017, in Baptist Memorial Hospital—North Mississippi at Oxford.

Born June 23, 1954, he was a son of the late Lila Faye Simpson Smith and Robert Lee Smith. Larry worked many years for Georgia Pacific and was a member of Anchor Baptist Church. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, and had a passion for cars and good music.

Visitation was held Thursday, October 19, from 5-7 p.m. in Seven Oaks Funeral Home at Water Valley. Graveside services were held in Browning Cemetery in Lafayette County on Friday, October 20, at 11 a.m. with Bro. Charles Lipe officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Smith of Oxford; two daughters, Brandee Smith (Drew Wheeler) of Tupelo and Kady Smith of Oxford; two sons, Derek Hunter (Morgan) and Dustin Cody Hunter, both of Oxford; two sisters, Brenda Gossett (William) and Barbara Palmertree, both of Water Valley; and four grandchildren, Avery, Tatum, Kylie, and Ada.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Gary Smith.
