Juanita Sue Barlow

ATLANTA, GA—Juanita Sue Barlow, age 60, died September 7, 2017, in Baptist East Hospital at Memphis.

Born August 6, 1957, in Marks, Miss Barlow was a daughter of the late James Woodrow Barlow and Nettie Taylor Barlow. Juanita was a clerk/manager for Eckerd Drug Stores in Atlanta. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Juanita enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and shopping. Having fun was always a priority.

Visitation was held Saturday, September 9, at 10 a.m. in Shady Grove Baptist Church at Batesville. The funeral service followed in the church at 11 a.m. Interment was  in the church cemetery. Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley was in charge of arrangements.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy L. Wiggins and Hattie Faye Hitchcock; and four brothers, James A. Barlow, Robert T. Barlow, Billy H. Barlow and Charles O. Barlow.

Survivors include three sisters, Ruby B. Yarbrough of Courtland, Jean B. Briggs of Batesville, and Margaret B. Hales of Minden, La.; and four brothers, Jessie Barlow and Timmy Barlow, both of Senatobia, Jimmy Barlow of Batesville, and Jeffrey W. Barlow of Billings, Montana.

Dow Harwell, Jr.

COFFEEVILLE—Dow Harwell, Jr., 69, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017, at his home in Coffeeville.

  Mr. Harwell was born in Oxford and worked most of his life as a maintenance supervisor for MDOT. He was a Mason and member of the Banner Lodge, and he also served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed buying, selling and trading goods. He was a gun and coin enthusiast and he loved his dogs. However, he loved nothing more than  his grandchildren and his Lord and Savior.

Visitation was held Tuesday, September 12, from 4-7 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home.The funeral service will be held  Wednesday, September 13, at 11 a.m., also in the funeral home. Interment will be in Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery at Tula. Bro. Bob Cook will officiate and Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

  He is survived by his wife, Judy Harwell of Coffeeville; his mother, Stella Harwell of Tula; five daughters, Amanda King (Trace) of Paris,  Audrey King (Craig) of Water Valley, Jodie Denley (Criss) of Coffeeville, Stefanie Carter of Bruce, and Akesha Calder (Russell) of Coffeeville; two sons, Billy Gene Mayhan, Sr. of Tocopola and Jay Cotten (Maggi) of New Albany; two brothers, Jerry Harwell of Paris and David Harwell (Missy) of College Grove, Tenn.; three sisters, Lawanda Ann Knighton (Lawrence) and Lisa Bishop (Randy), both of Oxford, and Evelyn Stevens of Tula; 14 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hulon Dow Harwell. In honor of Mr. Harwell’s service to our country, the flag of the United States Navy will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home. Memorials in honor of Mr. Harwell may be made to the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2040 West Wellsgate Dr., Oxford, MS 38655.

Leonard Roy Kelley

OXFORD—Leonard Roy Kelley, 72, died Monday, September 11, 2017, at  his home in Oxford.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 13, at 11 a.m. in Anchor Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Shook officiating. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Oxford, Mr. Kelley was the son of the late John Bunyan and Ethel Virginia Turner Kelley. He was a member of Anchor Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Daniel Kelley.

He is survived by sisters, Carmita Tidwell, Mary Metts, and Linda James, all of Oxford, and Pamela Thrift, Holley Kelley and Cathy Guarr, all of Water Valley; brothers, Rockey Kelley of Carriere and Gary Kelley and Freddie Kelly, both of Oxford.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Kelley’s memory may be made to the Anchor Baptist Church Building Fund, 1009 MS-7, Water Valley, MS 38965.

Justin Person

OXFORD – Justin Person, age 29, died Saturday, September 9, 2017 in an automobile accident.  He was born December 30, 1987 to Elbert David Person and Marlene “Molly” Guy in West Memphis, Ark.  

He was a carpenter by trade, and enjoyed music, fishing, hunting and building things.  Justin was a Baptist.  

Services are planned for noon Thursday, September 14, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Wesley Hughes officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in Clear Creek Cemetery of Oxford with John Patterson, Tom Guy, Slade McDonald, Ben Guy, Shawn Webb, and Shannon McCoy serving as pallbearers.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly Lewis Person of Oxford; a 3 week-old daughter, Aleya Person of Oxford; his mother, Marlene “Molly” Guy of Hardy, Ark.; his father, David Person of Oxford; and his grandparents, Charlene and Elbert Person of Earle, Ark.  

Justin was preceded in death in 2007 by a brother, Paul David Person.
