WATER VALLEY – Former Water Valley offensive lineman, Jarius Gooch, signed with Southeastern Louisiana University Wednesday morning during the early signing period of National Signing Day. Gooch has spent the past two years at Homes Community College after he graduated from Water Valley in 2016.
He chose Southeastern Louisiana over Alcorn State, the Lions made him feel at home on his visit leading to his decision.
“When I was down there at Southeastern Louisiana they just made me feel like I was at home, it felt like a family,” Gooch said.
Jarius has been a part of an impressive offensive line at Holmes that helped lead the Bulldogs explosive rushing attack over the past two seasons.
“I’ll remember the offensive line that we had down there, especially the Leadership award we won (2017 Colonel Bradley MacNealy Leadership Award, was presented to Holmes Offensive Line earlier this month) and rushing for about 367 yards per game this year,” Gooch on what he’ll remember from his time at Holmes Community College.
Jarius will enroll in spring classes at Southeastern starting in January and begin preparing for spring football.
