Wiley Clayton Sharpe
TUPELO—Wiley Clayton Sharpe, age 84, died Friday, May 22, 2018, at Sanctuary House in Tupelo. Born May 19, 1933, in Brazil, Mr. Sharpe was a son of the late Lonnie and Lula Mae Pennington Sharpe. He attended Northwest Community College where he played football for the Northwest Rangers. Wiley was a farmer and a retired sergeant for the Mississippi Dept. of Corrections. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and gardening; and he took great pleasure in birds, especially hummingbirds. As a storyteller, he captivated his listeners with intricate details. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a Baptist.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at Water Valley, with Rev. Truman Scarborough officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will be held in the Jenkins Family Cemetery at Sumner.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Sharpe Reves (Sam) of Abbeville, and Patti Fitzpatrick (Brian) of Lexington, Ky.; one son, Michael Glenn Sharpe (Marla) of Ashland, Ky.; a sister, Ruth Coleman of Pelahatchie; six grandchildren Belle Sharpe, Lauren Tolbert Russell (Chris), Jonathan Tolbert, Jared Tolbert, Jacob Preston, and Molly Preston; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Pinion Sharpe; a daughter, Luann Sharpe; a son, Wiley Clayton Sharpe, Jr.; a sister, Beatrice Jones; and three brothers, Harris Sharpe, Charles Sharp, and Billy Lockey.
Steven Daniel Rumfelt
WATER VALLEY—Steven Daniel Rumfelt, age 34, died Saturday, May 12, 2018, in Baptist Memorial Hospital—North Mississippi at Oxford.
Born September 22, 1982, in Memphis, he was a son of Fred Raymond Rumfelt and Joey Annette Waddell Simpson. He was self-employed in construction work. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. Steven was baptized in the faith of Christ and was a Baptist.
The family will hold a memorial service in his honor at a later date. Seven Oaks Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Steven is survived by his wife, Jennifer Rumfelt of Water Valley; thee daughters, Megan Hillegas, Breanna Hillegas, and Destiny Schmitz, all of Water Valley; a son, Logan Rumfelt of Water Valley; three sisters, Jeannie Carter, Ginger McCreless (Danny) and Carmen Rumfelt, all of Slayden; three brothers, Tad Rumfelt (Katie) of Mt. Pleasant, Robert Allen (Amy) of Slayden, and Kelly Allen Waddell of Texas; his father, Fred Rumfelt (Brenda) of Lamar; and his mother, Joey Simpson (Dale) of Water Valley.
