Hunter Wayne Eubanks


WATER VALLEY—Hunter Wayne Eubanks, age 17, of Water Valley died in Baptist Memorial Medical Center at Oxford October 17, 2018.

Born January 30, 2001, in Grenada, Hunter was the son of Eric and Tiffanie Eubanks. His greatest joy was television and his favorite shows included the Shrek series of movies, Ninja Warriors, as well as Wheel of Fortune and anything to do with football and baseball.

Visitation was held Friday, October 19, in the Appleton Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. A graveside service followed in Sylva Rena Cemetery  with Bro. Shane Crawford officiating.

In addition to  his parents, Hunter is survived by his brother, Mason Eubanks, grandparents, William (Sheila) Butts, Neal (Rosie) Eubanks and Javier (Shan) Carrasco, all of Water Valley; and one aunt, Stephanie (Tim) Banton of Water Valley.


Mable Jones Freeman


WATER VALLEY—Mable Jones Freeman, beloved mother and grandmother slept away from this life Saturday, October 20, 2018, surrounded by family at her home in Water Valley. She was 85.

Mrs. Freeman was born August 8, 1933, in Victoria, to the late McKenzie and Mattie Lou Jones. She was united in holy matrimony to Claude Lee Freeman, Jr. on March 11, 1950, and they enjoyed 61 years in this life together. She worked for Motts, Inc., where she retired after 32 years.  

She was a long time member of Chapel Hill M.B. Church and served a faithful seat on the Mother Board. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, crafting and passing down her words of wisdom.

Survivors include three daughters, Martha Crawford of Oxford, Patricia Ann George (Hubert) of Shreveport, La., and Gloria Ann Freeman of Water Valley;  seven sisters, Nettie B. Rankin (Thurman)  of Memphis, Hessie Richmond (Archie), Rutha Mae Norman, Beauty  B. Young (Willie), Lillian Stevenson (Terry), Bulah DeBerry (Lee), and Gwendolyn Jones, all of Victoria; six grandchildren, Derrick Crawford, Chandra Crawford Audrey Pegues (Hersis), Angela Freeman-Thomas (Tommy), Krystl Ortiz (Alan), and Kristi Jones (Akeem); 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of  nieces, nephews, church family, and friends. She also leaves a special long-time friend, Percy Lee Rogers, and a special care giver, Anita Rockette.

  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Lee Freeman, Jr., a son, Oscar Freeman, a sister, Tressie Rayford, and a brother, Albert Jones.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 27, in Greater Sanders Chapel, 206 CR 220, Water Valley. The funeral service will follow visitation with Rev. Jerome Battle officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery at Water Valley Repast will be held in Greater Sanders Chapel. Condolences and flowers may be made or sent to Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley.


RoAnne Standridge


BATESVILLE—Mrs. RoAnne Standridge, age 84, passed away at her residence on Saturday, October 20, 2018.

The family received friends on Tuesday, October 23, from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in Newsom Funeral Home Chapel. A private graveside service will be held for the family at Magnolia Garden Cemetery in the Paynes Community.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Standridge Allison (Ronnie) of Cascilla and Terri Standridge Jennings of Tillatoba; one son, Ray Standridge (Glenda) of Cascilla; six grandchildren, John William Jennings, III, Phillip Jennings, Ii, Ashley Jennings, Nick Standridge, Beth Standridge, and Chuck Kendall; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Billie Shaw of Coffeeville and Alene Johnson of Grenada.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Ray (Rusty) Standridge; her parents, Oswald Stewart and Maye Landreth; three sisters, Betty Bodet, Jean Dale Miller, and Mary Jeff Babbs; and one brother, Doug Landreth.
