Frances Irene Gandy Brasher
DRASCO, Ark. – Frances Irene Gandy Brasher, age 82, died at her home in Drasco, Ark. surrounded by her family.
The service was held Saturday, Sept. 19, in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Burial was in Paris Cemetery.
Frances was born to the late Lorene Dessaline Ganger Gandy and William Elvis Gandy in Paris. She fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse, and her passion for nursing has inspired other family members to follow in her footsteps. She was happily married to Ernest Wayne Brasher for 64 years. Frances was talented in oil painting, and was an avid reader. She enjoyed gardening, trees, and planting flowers, but her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.
Frances is survived by her husband, Ernest Wayne Brasher of Drasco, Ark.; one son, Gregory Wayne Brasher and his wife, Sharion; one daughter, Sonja Morman Thompson and her husband, Tyson; one sister, Myra Maxine Hurley; two brothers, Walter Earl Gandy and his wife, Ruby Faye, and Carl Dean Gandy; 10 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Mary McCullar Norris
WATER VALLEY—Mary McCullar Norris, age 75, of Water Valley died Thursday, September 17, 2020 in Yalobusha General Hospital at Water Valley.
Born April 10, 1945, in Water Valley, Mary was a daughter of the late Marvin and Lucille Palmertree McCullar. She spent the majority of her career at Big Yank, BorgWarner, and as a teacher’s assistant for the Water Valley School District. Mary was a faithful member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church, were she had served as a Sunday School Teacher and in the WMU where she was awarded the “Faithful Servant” Award. She was also a member of the Water Valley Lions Club and Gideon’s Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, reading, quilting, and cooking Sunday lunch for her family. Nothing was more important to her, though, than spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, September 20, in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 21, in the Henry Chapel of the funeral home, with Bro. Crawford officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, with Randy Walker, Layth Terry, Ty Varner, Joe Pullen, Larry Spouse, Chip May, Willie Pullen, and Josh Ferguson as pallbearers.
Mary is survived by her husband of 52 years, W. G. “Bill” Norris; three daughters, Tracey Varner (the late Terry Varner), Lee Anne Wrenn (Chad), and Jennifer McMinn (Lee); one sister, Bonnie Dimock (Dale); and six grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Paul McCullar.
Charles Lenard Stone
WATER VALLEY – Charles Lenard Stone, age 82, of Water Valley, died Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Visitation was Sunday September 20, in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Services followed at 2 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Jerry Holt officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Charles was born August 13, 1938 in Water Valley to the late James and Ardelle (Littleton) Stone. After graduating from high school, he attended college for a short time before returning to Water Valley to become a purchasing agent at Ram Tool Inc. Charles was a soft spoken man, and very much respected, not only by his family, but the entire community. Being the father of three boys, Charles mentored them, and others, as he coached their youth baseball teams. His joys were fishing and hunting, especially squirrels; as well as being a father and husband.
Charles is survived by three sons, Keith Stone (Jackie) of Conway, Ark., Hoyt Stone (Kay), and Sandy Stone (Tena) all of Water Valley.
Along with his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Stone.
