Water Valley hometown girl KeKe Rockette, (stage name Roy Rockette) ended the year 2020 with a bang.
Rockette secured a major inks Publishing Deal with Sony/ATV – the world’s No. 1 music publishing company offering a diverse catalogue of iconic songs written by legends such as The Beatles, Michael Jackson, and The Rolling Stones, as well as contemporary superstars such as Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, Drake, Lady Gaga and Kanye West, Rockette is on her way to be listed with those legends.
Rockette is a graduate of Water Valley High School and Ole Miss, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a minor in theater.
As a little girl, she was raised by her grandmother Maudie Rockette.Maudie allowed Rockette to take multiple bookings, singing at several Watermelon Carnival pageants, and in churches. She also entered and won several local talent shows.
Rockette wanted to take her talents further than Water Valley. In 2006 family member Terry Rockette, who is known in the entertainment world, relocated back to Water Valley and founded The Youth Vineyard Inc., implementing several art programs.
Within those programs, Rockette was taught choreography, singing, dancing, acting and artist development together, creating her profile. She then packed her bags and moved to Atlanta to work on her craft. After performing in stage plays, movies and producing her own material, she captured the attention of L.A. Reid, an American record executive and producer. After that project ended, Rockette continued her journey that landed her this latest deal.
Rockette credits her raw talent, The Youth Vineyard, North Hopewell Church and the support of her family and hometown residents for providing an outlet to display her gifts.
Today she is working with multimillionaire K. Michelle, known as an American singer and television personality, in addition to other stars. Rockette is asking her hometown residents to follow her journey by adding her on Facebook under the name Roy Rockette, as she works on her album, including a song to her hometown.
