Let Those Brains Relax During Spring Break

TILLATOBA NEWS
By Patsy Deck
I hope all the school children and faculty out this week for spring break have a great week and a safe one. Let those brains relax and enjoy your time having fun.
Jeff Tillman sent me a text saying the first service in the new remodeled sanctuary at Tillatoba Baptist Church will be Easter morning at 10 a.m. This has been a long process, and I can’t wait to get back in our church. By then, I will have had both shots.
Bullet, the Phil Harrison family’s dog, loves fishing – a little too much. He jumped up and caught Jake Harrison’s hook and got it stuck in his gums. Dr. Abernathy got him fixed up. He got to come home Monday. That must have done a number on him!
Saturday was J.R. Dukes birthday, and he said it was a pretty good day. He fished in a tournament on his home lake, Enid Lake, with the St. Jude team trail. J.R. said catching fish wasn’t a problem at all, he just couldn’t get the big ones to bite. He also said they didn’t place quite like they wanted, but had a limit and a great time fishing. The best part of all was to help raise money for St. Jude – a great cause, J.R. This old neighbor of yours is proud of you!
Congratulations to Hunter Franklin and Marlie Robinson on their marriage Saturday, March 13. Marlie is the daughter of Bart and Mary Robinson of Oxford and granddaughter of Connie Cockerel of Tillatoba.
Martha Box texted early Monday morning and said she was apologizing to our Lord for fussing about her pains. Needy knees for a wore out gal who has so much to do.
She said kids on vacation this week means she is too. While they play, I should too, she added.
Martha also said she may be up on top of her roof shooting the team of big squirrels or coons that are running across it from end to end – over and over. They are ticked off and can’t decide which way to run because she sealed the attic.
Rowland Hartley killed a turkey during the youth season. His daddy, Nathan Hartley, carried him. Faye Hartley, Rowland’s grandmother said she thought Nathan was more excited than Rowland.
Love and sympathy to the family of baby Harley King, who passed away Sunday, March 8. The parents are Caitlin Box and Ronald King.
Happy birthday to Greg Lukacs and to our daughter-in-law, Brandy Deck, who celebrate on the 19th; to Amanda Ayers Gunn on the 21st; and to Daisy Walton Burlison on the 23th. I hope all of you have a blessed day.
I had a blessed day Sunday when I heard David say, “ Waylon, Holly and the baby are here!” It was the first time I have seen my great-granddaughter in a little over six months! She came right to me. I will get my second shot here in a few weeks, and I told Holly I would be knocking on their door every chance I got! I’m gonna be making up for lost time. Thank you, Jesus, for precious babies!
Thought for the day…Whether a man winds up with a nest egg or a goose egg depends on the chick he married.
