WATER VALLEY – The opening date is approaching for the new Family Dollar/Dollar Tree store on Duncan Street, and open interviews for all positions are scheduled Monday afternoon. Store manager Lucy Woodruff reported the new location is tentatively scheduled to open in mid-May, but employees hired will start work in the coming weeks.
“I will be hiring 30 sales associates/stockers and five to seven assistant managers,” Woodruff told the Herald.
The open interviews are scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. in the store parking lot, located at 409 Duncan Street in the former Fred’s Building. Woodruff reported that applicants should complete an online application at: familydollar.com/career prior to coming for the interview. No appointment is needed.
Woodruff is a long-time employee of Family Dollar and moved to Water Valley from Baton Rouge. She currently manages the Family Dollar in Batesville.
As the opening date approaches, she is excited about managing the Water Valley store.
“This store is one of the new prototypes for our company, with Family Dollar merchandise and Dollar Tree merchandise all under one roof,” she said about the store format.
The hybrid store format is designed to serve small towns and rural communities with populations of 3,000 to 4,000 – markets where the company would traditionally not open a Dollar Tree store alone, according to chainstoreage.com.
Woodruff is also excited about her short commute to the new store.
“It is like a dream come true; I will get to walk to work everyday,” she told the Herald.
