Annie Pearl Boyles
WATER VALLEY – Annie Pearl Boyles, age 69, of Water Valley died unexpectedly Friday, May 28, 2021, at her home. She was born April 8, 1952, in Enid and continued to live and work in north central Mississippi. Pearl was a down-to-earth woman who lived a simple and quiet life with her husband, Dean. She loved to fish, and on occasion, would catch more than Dean. When she wasn’t fishing, she loved to just ride around the countryside and look at nature.
Visitation was held Sunday, May 30, in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 4 until 6 p.m. A graveside service followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley on Monday, May 31. Rev. Raymond Aven officiated.
Pearl is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dean Boyles; one son, Matthew Boyles, both of Water Valley; one daughter, Anya Patton (Chris) of Coldwater; two brothers, Bud Smith (Betty), Lester Smith (Patsy) all of Water Valley; three sisters, Ilene Dees of Enid, Josie Bunch of Oakland, Christine Brow (Phillip) of Ohio; four grandchildren, John Patton, Brandon Patton, Brittany Patton, Allison Patton; and three great-grandchildren, Emery Miller, Evannie Miller, and Grayson Leach.
Along with her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by six brothers, Delmer Smith, Chester Smith, Bobby Smith, Bill Smith, Will Smith and J.H. Smith; and one sister, Jean (Murph) Johnson.

Larry James Taylor
CASCILLA – Sgt. First Class (Ret.) Larry James “Duck” Taylor, 71, of Cascilla, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born December 3, 1949 in Charleston to Robert Lee and Elizabeth Richardson Taylor. He attended school in Cascilla and Charleston, and upon graduation enlisted in the US Air Force and later the Mississippi Army National Guard. He served our country honorably and proudly for over 20 years until his retirement. Duck had many passions in life, but those he held most dear were his son, grandchildren and his country.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Rev. Mark Moore officiating. Interment followed in the North Shady Grove Cemetery at Cascilla. The family received friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Kalena Taylor; granddaughter, Mikayla Taylor; grandsons, Dominic Taylor and Aiden Taylor, all of Nesbit; two sisters, Virginia Mullen and Shirley O’Bryant, both of Cascilla; and two brothers, Robert L. Taylor and Donnie Taylor, both of Cascilla; and a large loving immediate and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his pride and joy, his son, Sgt. Michael D. Taylor; his parents and a sister, Betty Taylor. Numerous other family members were there to welcome him to the Glory Land.
