Linda Ann Cannon

COFFEEVILLE – Linda Ann Cannon, age 60, of Coffeeville died Thursday, February 10, 2022, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada after an extended illness.

She was born August 12, 1961 in Memphis to Dorothy Hughes and the late James Cannon. Even with her small stature, she drove eighteen wheelers for a living until her health precluded her from working. Linda was a down to earth person who enjoyed the simple things in life. To her, laughter and being happy were the answer to life’s problems. Linda loved animals, riding horses and taking care of her dog, “Strawberry.” She was a member of First Baptist Coffeeville. She will be missed greatly.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, February 15, in the Hopewell Church cemetery. Seven Oaks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Linda is survived by her mother, Dorothy Hughes of Coffeeville. Along with her father, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Cannon.

Frank Murphree

COFFEEVILLE – Frank Murphree died February 9, 2022 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson after a brief illness.

Frank was a lifelong resident of the Shiloh community near Coffeeville. He enjoyed working on and repairing farm machinery and cars. He retired from the Beat 1 County Road Department. In his retirement years he worked for the Yalobusha Cotton Gin every fall and cut hay in the summer. He was a quiet man, who stayed to himself. He enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and Rick Nelson.

A member of the Cowboy Church in the Shiloh Community, he always looked forward to services there. A God-fearing man, who can now happily join his parents, Claude and Sammie Murphree; and brothers, Doyal, Doris and Wayne in heaven.

Services were held Saturday, February 12, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home.

Betty Jean Pullen

WATER VALLEY – Betty Jean Pullen, age 87, of Water Valley, MS passed from this life on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Yalobusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley.

She was born September 30, 1934 in Panola County to the late Roy and Coreen (Willingham) Ware. She was brought up in a time when family and hard work were a focus of life. After graduating high school, She married Barney Pullen and worked as an accountant at the old Rice Stix plant in Water Valley until dedicating her life to being a wife and mother. When she wasn’t chasing after boys and sewing patches on the knees of their jeans, she enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking. Betty also loved The Lord and serving His church. She a member at Sylva Rena Baptist Church where she was the leader and teacher of the Beginners Class for over 25 years.

Visitation was held Saturday, February 12 at Sylva Rena Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Services followed at 1 p.m. with Bro. Shane Crawford and Bro. Freddie Moorman officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Seven Oaks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Betty is survived by three sons, William “Willie” (Kathy) Pullen, Joseph “Joe” (Jean) Pullen, and Dr. Barney “Lee” (Andrea) Pullen, all of Water Valley; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two half-sisters; and one half-brother.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Barney Pullen; and one sister, Ouida Pullen.
