The Water Valley Police Department charged an Oxford man with possession of cocaine and DUI-second offense during an encounter at a safety checkpoint on West Lee Street on April 14.
Chief Jason Mangrum reported officers determined that Steven Westbrook, 44, had been drinking and launched a DUI investigation. During the probe they observed Westbrook drop a baggie containing alleged cocaine. He was booked in the Yalobusha County Detention Center.
Other arrests reported by the chief include:
• Jerry L. Cody, 61, of Water Valley was charged with felony DUI after he was stopped for speeding on Wise Street on April 12.. During the traffic stop, officers determined that Cody was under the influence of alcohol. He was booked in the Yalobusha County Detention Center.
• Freddie L. Hervey, 65, of Batesville was arrested for DUI-second offense during a safety checkpoint on Boyd Street. Officers determined he was under the influence and made the arrest. Hervey was booked in the Yalobusha County Detention Center.
