WATER VALLEY – Bennett Hill, Inc. (BHI), a family-owned property development company, was presented the Business Spotlight Award by the Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce on Monday, September 12. Launched in 2016, the spotlight award honors merchants, businesses and individuals who excel in their support of the community and are involved in local activities.

BHI was founded by Bennett Hill in 2009. Bennett’s love for carpentry and construction began at an early age. He remembers visiting his grandmothers when he was about four years old, and they would give him a hammer and a block of wood in which to practice driving nails. He began going with his dad to his carpentry shop soon after that and spent many hours with his dad while he did various kinds of carpentry work for individuals.

After graduation from Water Valley High School, Bennett went to Northeast Mississippi Community College on a Band Scholarship. With a desire to pursue a degree in a field that would give him opportunities for field work as well as office work, he began working on a degree in Land Surveying and became a Registered Land Surveyor with the State of Mississippi in 2002. After surveying for several years, Bennett obtained his Mississippi Residential and Commercial Contractor’s Licenses in 2006, expanding his business into the area of construction and founding BHI in 2009.

BHI focuses on land development, including everything from acquiring a wooded parcel of land to turning it into a fully-developed subdivision. BHI, in conjunction with Hill Lewis, can coordinate the surveying of your property and the drawing of plans and specifications for the project. With expertise from Strawhat Properties, BHI can make the vision of your dreams become a reality. Wooded areas can become carefully-manicured parcels of property while maintaining as much of the natural landscape as possible, dirt roads can become paved roads with sewer, and vacant lots can become future homes for your family or business. Clients in the past have commented that it is convenient to be able to deal directly with one company that can coordinate their projects from start to finish.

BHI is based in Water Valley and serves the North Mississippi area, focusing primarily on the Water Valley and Oxford areas. Bennett takes pride in his company and plays an active role in every aspect of each project it undertakes. BHI maintains a qualified, talented staff; and many staff members have been working with Bennett since BHI’s inception.
Bennett is a life-long resident of Water Valley and lives here with his wife, Jill, and their two children, Brady and Maggie.

Bennett enjoys restoring old vehicles and attends and enters many car shows in surrounding areas. Bennett would like to thank his family, business associates, friends, and the people of our surrounding communities who have supported him in his business endeavors thru the years.
