The weeks here at Water Valley High School just seem to get crazier towards the end of the year! There is always an event going on or a final to study for. The busyness keeps students’ minds off of the pain of waiting for summer to come!
The Blue Devil baseball team took on Calhoun City at home on April 17, winning 14 to four. The Devils honored their five Seniors at the game: Que Carothers, Brady Hill, Ethan Hyde, Andrew Paysinger and Bryce Terry. These guys have dedicated their time and effort to the program over the past six years and stood as leaders on the team.
“Throughout these past six years, we have set our goals high and haven’t stopped until we reached them!” senior Que Carothers stated.
The boys also took on Bruce and South Panola this week resulting in two losses. The Blue Devils are now entering the playoffs with the first round on April 25. The Devils will play at Humphreys County High School against Humphreys County beginning at 7 pm.
The boys golf team traveled to Corinth to play their district tournament at Hillendale Country Club on April 19. The team shot a team record of 325 to place third at the Region One tournament and qualify for the Class 3A State tournament in Biloxi on May 2 and 3. Andrew Paysinger shot a 78, Walker Tedford shot a 79,
Brady Hill shot an 81, and Jake McMinn rounded out the scores with an 87. Congratulations!
