WATER VALLEY – The Water Valley Housing Authority held a senior celebration to congratulate recent graduates on May 24. In dedication to the joyous moment, Terrell Brown, Jeremiah Griffis, Joshua Griffis, Starnecia Campbell, Shania Philips, Kamarious Rucker, Casey Telford, and Shonekevious Wilks, tenants of the community, were all invited to the celebration in honor of this significant achievement. Two graduates, Campbell and Philips, are university graduates.
The event started with a prayer after the honorees and proud parents arrived at the event where the graduates ate a meal to celebrate their recent academic accomplishments. During the celebration, the housing authority served food and gifts to the special guests while participants gathered with one another at a table decorated with graduation regalia.
During the celebration the graduates shared their goals for the future. Brown plans to attend Northwest Community College to major in Business Management. Wilks, who graduated from Coffeeville High School, plans to receive his Commercial Driving License (CDL). Tedford and Rucker, Water Valley graduates, plan to enter the workforce. Jeremiah Griffis (Water Valley graduate) plans to join the Marines.
The celebration ended with a gift given to each senior from the Water Valley Housing Authority to congratulate them on their new journeys in life.
“We’re proud of them and this is like an incentive for them to do more in life,” said Symba Owens with the Water Valley Housing Authority. She said the purpose of the celebration was to honor the seniors and encourage them to continue to move forward in life and pursue their goals.
