Goodness y’all, it’s hot as blue blazes here in Tillatoba. I went to open the front door and the hot air almost caused me to lose my breath.
I worry about the boys and girls who are out in this hot weather practicing and playing sports.
It’s that time of the year! It’s Vacation Bible School time at Tillatoba Baptist Church. Please join us for fun and learning about Jesus Christ. Sunday night, July 9th is pre-registration night. It starts at 5 p.m. and we will have Mary Berry Balloons (the balloon lady), a devotion and food.
Friday night, July 14th gets underway at 6 p.m. We will start with a parade, then ventriloquist John Grayson Henderson will perform and food will be served. Saturday, July 15, is the big day. We will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. The closing program will follow Sunday night, July, with activities starting at 6 p.m. We will have a music video of the kids, release balloons with notes attached and serve food. Please come join us and bring a friend. There is also information posted on Facebook, see Tillatoba Baptist Church.
Deborah McCool says Tommy, her husband, is working too much. He is short-handed at work and no one wants a job. They stayed home Saturday night and cooked on the grill with son-in-law, Jason and Kimberly Beavers and grand girls, Caitlyn and Hannah Beavers and Addie Dukes. Saturday afternoon, Deborah and her three girls went to Batesville and did some shopping for Deb’s daddy.
Doris and Barry Hoop are going to visit Barry’s brother, Darrell, and wife, Cindy, in Springfield Mo. for July Fourth. Doris said her hip is doing really well after surgery.
Martha Box said, “Above all I did this week, I was blessed with a great visit to Pine Grove Church where Bro. Scarborough gave such an encouraging teaching message of the Gifts given to us. “And strong Perseverance! So love the Joy and Spirit in his messages.”
She was fed well by all the loving cooks that prepared lunch for the Gray family. Martha said she gave a hug from all us Tillatoba folks.
Martha is asking prayers for her brother, Jesse, and wife, Jodi, who are having some medical issues. Also for her daughter-in-law, Melinda Box, who had a knee injury and needs a healing prayer.
Her great granddaughter, Addie, left for camp Sunday after three days prepping for it. Lot of teaching, Martha said.
Milton Harper is having surgery on his arm to remove skin cancer Thursday. The biopsy that the doctor took June 7 came back showing cancer. Prayers for you, Milton.
Keith Beck passed out at work Friday from dehydration. He ended up in the emergency room at Charleston and they kept him for about six hours because they had to give him a bag of fluid and made him drink about three quarts of water while there. His mother, Darlene Moorman, said Sunday that he is very weak but doing much better. The doctor said he could not go back to work for three days.
Darlene had her great grandson, Elisa, Saturday and Sunday and Alisa Beck. They had a ball together. Elisa helped her cook breakfast one morning. Spoil that boy while he will let you, Darlene!
Sheryn Goode’s daughter, Dana, drove down Friday from Memphis. They went to the cemetery and put out flowers. Then Dana wanted to tour the countryside. Sheryn said she saw a lot of changes that she almost didn’t recognize. In the end, Dana said she didn’t know if she wanted to live here. Of course she has always lived in the city. She doesn’t like these narrow roads we have here and a lot of other things that she said she wouldn’t mention. Probably no big shopping malls or a lot of restaurants.
Sunday afternoon my daughter, Donna Garripoli, visited and did a few odd jobs around the house for us. Thank you so much, Donna. I sent her home with a sack of bell peppers.
I made a big dish of stuffed bell peppers and they are all gone. I had enough meat and rice left over to make stuffed cabbage rolls for supper one night. I also cooked enough rice for a rice pudding! It was good too!
Happy 18th Anniversary Sunday, June 26 to Twin and Amanda Ferguson; and happy 23rd anniversary to David and Daisy Burlison.
On the 28th Peggy and Eugene Bailey, my coon hunting buddies, will celebrate their anniversary! I pray you three couples have many more.
Happy birthday to Brianna White on the 29th of June. Starting out on our July birthdays are Dixie Fernandez, Brad and Brian Holliday and Kathy Dukes, who share a birthday on the 3rd; and Bart Holtom and Shirley McCollins share a birthday on the 4th. I pray you all have a blessed birthday.
