Karon Turnage and Jennifer Lucas are decorating for the carnival this year. Lucas creates and sells wreathes and bows for all occasions including the carnival.
WATER VALLEY – The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Watermelon Carnival decorating contest for individual residences and businesses. In both categories the grand prize will be $100, the second place winners will receive $75, and the third place winners will be presented $50. The last date to enter is July 30. The Chamber of Commerce Facebook page will share a photo album for voting.
“This is a great way to show off Water Valley to thousands of visitors we have during the watermelon carnival, as well as thousands of people online who keep up with their hometown, but are unable to be here. We hope the community will be involved with sharing and voting for their favorites,” encourages committee chairperson Karen Turnage.
Winners will be announced on Monday, August 7. Everyone is encouraged to get into the Watermelon Carnival spirit and enter the contest. If you would like to participate, submit your decorations through Chamber’s Facebook or email @wvchamber@bellsouth.net!
