Henry Earl Reeves

WATER VALLEY – Henry Earl Reeves passed away July 30, peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Henry was born April 19, 1940 to Clarence Sr. and Earl Kay Brewer Reeves. Henry worked at Rockwell Industries in Grenada for 35 years. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Visitation is planned for Wednesday, August 2 in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from noon until 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the Henry Chapel at 2 p.m. with Brother Billy Foster and Brother Billy Hill officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.

Henry is survived by his wife, Alice Lee Reeves; two children, Gordon (Pam) Simpson of Oxford, Tammy (Butch) Hayles of Water Valley; one daughter in law, Tami Reeves of Williston, N.D.; eight grandchildren, as well as 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Koonce Reeves; one daughter, Dorothy Reeves; one son, Robert Earl Reeves Sr.; one sister, Josephine Waldo; and two brothers, Wyomman Reeves Sr. and Clarence Reeves Jr.

Dollie Hughes Smith

WATER VALLEY – Dollie Hughes Smith, age 96, departed this life Monday, July 31, at her home in Water Valley. She was born April 15, 1927, in Water Valley to the late Albert and Cola (Lindsey) Hughes.

After graduating from Camp Ground High School, Dollie would go on to marry Lynn Smith in 1947 and start their family. In 1954, they moved to Livingston, Ala. While raising her family, Dollie would enroll in Livingston University and complete a Masters in Education. She then began working in the Sumter County School, teaching and coaching. Dollie was of the Presbyterian faith and very active in her local church.

Visitation scheduled Monday, August 7, at the Water Valley Presbyterian Church from 10 until 11 a.m. The funeral service will immediately follow with Rev. Harold Spraberry officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Dollie is survived by one son, Michael (Charlotte) Smith, of Water Valley; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Wright of Jackson.

Along with her parents, Dollie was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Lynn Smith; a daughter Sharon Lynn Smith Pafford, as well as nine brothers; and four sisters.
