Everyone seems to be staying in under the air conditioner and not visiting. I don’t think our energy- saver air conditioner is saving us much money this month. The only reason it stops humming is because David cut it off to clean the filter.
On Saturday, James Lee Sturdivant had a birthday party and the report was he had so much fun. He loves playing games so he wanted a gamer birthday party. They had pin the button on the controller, a toss the bag into the controller, and a controller pinata along with lots of food and cake for family. Melissa said thanks to
Margaret Hopper Casiday, Morgan Casiday and Mason Casiday for all their help. James Lee is one of my favorite little people and the smartest seven year-old that I know.
David and I visited Diane Dukes Friday afternoon. We got to see Haven Rose and Joanna Pullen, Haven Rose’s little cousin. Diane was babysitting them Friday. Needless to say, she had her hands full! Precious little girls.
Sadie Harper’s aunt, Linda Jacobs of Finger, Tenn. was involved in an auto accident Friday afternoon and died in the ambulance on the way to the Jackson, Tenn. hospital. Love and prayers to the family.
Martha Box said she will be through with her eye doctors after the 22nd. Says she can see the world in a brand new light now. She made it to church on time Sunday. Once she realized how late she was, she put the pedal to the metal and landed at Willow Springs Assembly of God. Martha, you better slow that Mustang down!!
Martha says happy anniversary to cuz Charlie Darby and his lovely forever wife. She also said that she and Sister Joyce must get on a different diet. They enjoyed a fantastic fish buffet at Oakland Friday and then at Catfish Hut Sunday. My, my, my can’t even count those calories! Those two sisters love that fish!
Ginger Harrison said it was a nice weekend but also really fast. Josh got to come home last weekend from college and that does a moma’s heart good. They attended a birthday party for Lilly Whitaker at moma’s (Martha Box) on Saturday evening, enjoying good food and visiting. On Sunday they had lunch with Diane Hill.
Saturday night your writer picked out a outfit to wear to a wedding Sunday. Sunday morning I got up early and cooked a big pot of spaghetti. I wanted to have plenty of time to relax and get ready for the wedding. I called my daughter and told her that I wouldn’t be at home until later that afternoon in case she wanted to drive up. I got my invitation out and was reading it again and saw where the wedding wasn’t until the next Saturday. I couldn’t believe I had read it wrong. I ate a plate of spaghetti and put the ole trusted heating pad back on my back.
I talked to my phone friend, Peggy Bailey, Monday morning and she sounded so good. I think she is getting stronger by the day. She said her daughter, Jennifer Ross, went to town and bought her groceries for them for the week. Her other daughter, Pam Howell ,came up and visited Sunday afternoon. Those girls see that Peggy and Eugene are well taken care of.
I also talked to Ruth Jane Hailey and she said they are staying in pretty close to home. She said her brother, Bubba Tillman, is having problems with his back and is anticipating having a nerve block. That’s what I need but I don’t know about that one!
Happy belated birthday to Rowland Hartley and Ashlee Brown on the 20th; to James Lee Sturdivant on the 21st; happy birthday to precious great granddaughter, Haven Rose Dukes, on the 26th; to a sweet lady, Nancy Chambers, also on the 26th; to Nick Traywick on the 27th; Louise Gaither and my friend, Calvin Green, celebrate the 28th; Ann Kirk and Johnny Jackson on the 29th; and Chad Eskridge celebrates the 30th. May you all have a great day!
Thought for the day…. Conscience is God’s built-in warning system. Be very happy when it hurts you. Be very worried when it doesn’t.
