Sheriff’s Department Seeks Info About March Homicide

Authorities are seeking tips about a March homicide after passers-by was found deceased on County Road 214, just before the curve at the old Mudline Road, on March 22. Authorities believe that the body may have been dropped off.
The Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Department is asking for information about a murder that occurred on or about March 20, 2023. The body of Curtis Vaughn of Oxford was found on March 22 near the intersection of County Roads 214 and 107 near the Water Valley Municipal Airport. Vaughn had been reported missing to the Oxford Police Department on March 21 after he had not been heard from since 11 p.m. on March 20. Vaughn’s vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Trax, was found abandoned near the Paris community in Lafayette County around the same time the body was discovered by passersby.
Yalobusha County Sheriff Jerimaine Gooch reported that the Water Valley Police Department, Oxford Police Department, Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department and Metro Narcotics Unit from Lafayette are assisting his department in the investigation.
