Friday Bingo, Saturday Dance Scheduled At The VFW

Bingo will be played Friday night, October 13 at VFW Post 4100. The doors open at 5 p.m. and play gets underway at 7 p.m. The weekend action continues with the dance on Saturday, October 14 with the Hunt Pearson Band taking the stage. The doors open at 6 p.m., dancing starts at 7 and ends at 11 p.m.

JA Plans Gobble To The Turkey Thunder Run

Calling all runners – sign up for the Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley’s Thunder Turkey Run on Nov. 11. Sign-up on the JA’s Facebook post and stay tuned for an accompanying art contest for the t-shirt design.

Sign Up Has Started To Adopt An Angel Project For Angel Tree

It’s time to sign up to adopt an angel from Junior Auxiliary’s Project Santa Angel Tree! Contact the Junior Auxiliary via Facebook Messenger or juniorauxiliary.water valley@gmail.com to request an angel. You will be able to select the age/gender of a child and you will be provided with their Christmas wish list in October.

Monthly Historical Society Meeting Is Sunday

The Yalobusha County Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 15 at the Presbyterian Church on Depot St in Coffeeville. Dr Grady White will present the program, “Early Interactions with the Chickasaws.”

Former Vallian Will Speak On The Fascination Of Mary Magdalene
Dr. Al Price, a former Water Valley resident and member of the class of 1959, will be speaking at Castle Hills events center on Tuesday, October 17, at 6:30 p.m. His topic is “Why the Fascination With Mary Magdalene.”

“She is one of the most enigmatic figures in the Bible and in all literature,” Price reported.

Dr. Price also has a book that will be published early next year, “In Search of Mary, the Woman Called Magdalene: And the Boat Without Oars.”
Castle Hill is located at 120 Castle Hill Drive outside of Oxford.
