Members of The Garden Club of Water Valley including Jennifer Lucus (left) and Vicki Turnage put a breast cancer awareness sign at the flowerbed in front of Yalobusha General Hospital.
The Garden Club of Water Valley kicked off our new year with a meet and greet at the home of Jeanette Whitehead on September 18. There was food and fellowship – so much fun that we forgot to take a photo.
Monday, October 16, we had our first scheduled meeting of the year, again at the home of Jeanette Whitehead. We discussed our upcoming goals for the year with a strong emphasis on our Christmas goals. Our guest speaker was Patricia Weathersby from Oxford. She demonstrated flower arrangements for a wedding. It was very interesting and she sure made it look easy. Donna Toole prepared a delicious pot of taco soup and we had some wonderful appetizers prepared by Leah Willingham and several desserts prepared by other members.
A few garden club members met to put out the new Breast Cancer Awareness sign at the flowerbed at Yalobusha General Hospital. Our very own Vickie Turnage was on hand to help with this endeavor. Vickie has been cancer free for several years now and we strongly support breast cancer awareness/research.
