Chamber of Commerce elf Jessica Richardson will report back to Santa on who is naughty or nice during the Holiday Open House on Saturday.

WATER VALLEY – Christmas will be here before you can say Ho! Ho Ho! It’s only seven weeks away and this Saturday, city merchants are welcoming in the holliest, jolliest season with the annual Business Holiday Open House from 10 until 3. The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors this event which allows hundreds of gift givers to get an early start on their Christmas shopping list.

The day starts with the Lions Club’s traditional pancake breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Railroad Depot/Casey Jones Museum. Enjoy “all-you-care-to-eat” pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice for $6.

To add to the festivities the Jr. Auxiliary of Water Valley will host the 2023 Valley Dash Turkey Thunder Run. Registration is at the Pavilion in Railroad Park at 6:30 a.m. with the race beginning at 7:30 a.m. The entry fee is $30.
As part of the festivities, the Rotary is sponsoring the 8th Annual Rotary Chili Cook-Off. They will be set up in Pocket Park from 11a.m until 2 p.m. The entry fee is $10 and a cash prize will be given for the Best Chili.

Kids of all ages can visit and take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Magnolia Coffee Co.

During the day shoppers may register at participating local businesses for a variety of great door prizes. The grand prize, a $500 gift certificate, provided by the Chamber of Commerce, will be drawn at 3 p.m. and go to one lucky winner. This certificate may be used for holiday shopping at any Chamber-member businesses in Water Valley.
