It seems like every time you have a doctor appointment you are going to run into someone you know and haven’t seen in a while. I encountered Sue Weir and her sweet momma, Hazel Harris, Thursday. Hazel’s son, Bro. Rickey Harris, is pastor of Tillatoba Baptist church. I went to school with Hazel at Oakland.
Sheryn Goode’s daughter, Linda Shelton, and son-in-law, David Shelton, visited with Sheryn Sunday. They went to Grenada shopping and then by the truck stop to eat, just like old times. We had a very good day. Sheryn said she brought her some new clothes, which she always appreciates.
Congratulations to fourth grader Mary Brett Hartley and fifth grader Roland Hartley, local spelling bee winners.
Rowland and Mary Brett will complete in the District Spelling Bee on December 1. Congratulations to all the students who participated.
My friend Martha Box is still planning on old age (104) but dag-gummit, does time have to fly so fast?
Martha reported good food during visits with her sister, Joyce Stevens, at the Corner Store and Catfish Hut.
She also reported a great visit with Tillatoba Baptist Church friends Sunday, and it lifted her spirits as it always does. As Bro. Harris finished a statement with a good, joyful laugh, a sweet baby made the same joyful sound!
“Now that was quite a finish to a great sermon!” she shared.
Ray Bell fell again Sunday afternoon and fractured his left hip right in the area where he broke it earlier. He is scheduled to have surgery Monday to repair it.
It’s been a busy weekend reported Ginger Harrison! She attended Josh’s 4-H awards program where he won overall 4-H’er of the year. She said it was a great event with over a hundred in attendance. Yalobusha County has a great group of 4-H youth. She also attended the homegoing service for Lucy Redwine Wright. Lucy was a special lady and will be missed. Jake didn’t get to come home due to dress rehearsals for tomorrow nights choir concert.
Sunday afternoon, my daughter, Donna, and granddaughter, Miranda Procella, of Grenada, came up and son, Tim Sullivan, came down and they did a lot of work cleaning out a shed for me. Moved stuff out and put stuff in. This was something I had needed done in a while and I had the best time going through boxes and reminiscing about what I had found! Thank you all for doing that for me!
Happy anniversary to Wendy and Jason Pettit on the 18th! For a sixth anniversary, Jason, it is traditional to gift products made with iron or iron accents.”Jason, that doesn’t mean to give Windy a iron skillet and tell her to get in that kitchen and make you a skillet of cornbread. Just be very careful how you go about giving her the anniversary gift.
Happy belated birthday to my friend, Robert Camp, who celebrated the 12th; to my favorite brother-in-law, Tommy Hudson, on the 17th and to Diane Horn on the 17th; to the one who made me a grandmother first, my granddaughter, Miranda Procella on the 21st; and to Cliff McCain on the 21st.
