Love and sympathy is extended to the Ray Bell family in the loss of Mr. Bell. Ray passed away Dec. 6. He was such a sweet, soft-spoken man and will be missed.
Prayers for the people in Tennessee who were in the storms Saturday. Pray for the recovery in the aftermath of the deadly tornadoes that destroyed parts of the state.
“God be with the rescue teams, the families who lost loved ones, the survivors – that they may overcome the loss and trauma of this tragedy in Your Holy Name, I pray.”
Down Home Sweets, LLC was introduced over the weekend as Oakland’s newest business. The candy store will officially open its door on January 1, 2024. Owners are Kelli Beckham and Chaille Vanlandingham. The shop will incubate in the Chamber’s kitchen area at 304 Holly Street in Oakland. Kelli’s mom, Sherry Burchfield, is credited as the creator of the candy line and will continue creating recipes for the shop. Another wonderful asset for Oakland!
Martha Box says the real news is old news. CHRISTMAS means CHRIST was born. Amen! And as so well iterated by Bro. Tommy Darby Sunday morning, HIS birth is a GIFT to us. And the best gifts we can ever give is Love, Honor, Help one another and Share the WORD!
Martha is also extending prayers for Ray Bell’s family, the Bells and Boxes were friends for many years.
Martha said she ate out too many times last week and Spencer’s in Grenada feeds her well. She loves those chicken Philly sandwiches and cajun okra and such great friendly family style service. Martha says she gets to eat lunch with a lot of friends each time she goes.
Shelia Jackson asks that we keep praying for Davin Rowland. She reported prayers are being answered and he is doing a little better every day. Also pray for the Debbie Grier Englehart family. Debbie passed away last week. Pray for Mark and Stephanie. Debbie was Shirley Grier’s sister-in-law.
Ginger Harrison says the only news she has this week is she’s happy having both boys home from school for the weekend. I bet they are happy to be home and eat mommas cooking!
You know a few years ago I never dreamed about the technology that we have today. My granddaughter, Francesca Holliday hooked up a three-way call between her mother, Donna Garripoli, and myself to wish our grandson, Bradley Holliday, a happy birthday and to sing to him as Frankie lit the cup cakes! He was in Kansas City, Mo. for a ball game. Although the Kansas City Chiefs got beat by the Buffalo Bills by three points, it was still a good game and I’m sure Bradley will never forget this 11th birthday.
Gloria Hoop Marceleno’s son, Joseph Little, and his new wife, Jesse Little, came by for a couple hours Saturday on his way to Virginia. They’ll probably get snowed in. They’re supposed to be back Christmas week. Lynn said this was the first time she has seen him since July and they are probably moving to Virginia. She is not a happy mama at the moment, but the couple want a new start elsewhere. Jesse’s parents live in New York and New Hampshire.
I got a text Tuesday morning from my daughter, Donna Garripoli, saying, “I’m in Honolulu!” Donna spent a few days enjoying the beautiful islands.
My arm is better but I still can’t lift it to fix my hair or lift anything heavy. You would think I would enjoy not being able to do anything but light work, but I’m ready to get my baking done! My youngest son asked me if I was going to make his favorite Christmas cake (orange slice) and he even offered to do all the lifting and stirring. I’m going to forget making a fruit cake this year – way too much hard work involved.
