Sunday was a wonderful day for me. Donna came up and helped me make my orange slice cake and it turned out perfect. I remember the one I made last year, it fell apart. Not a drop was left though!
She also did a little house cleaning before she left! Thank you, Donna!
My big surprise was my long time friend, Liz McKinney, stopping by for a visit. Liz has moved to Gore Springs from Lumberton and she promised she would visit more often. I’m going to hold you to that, Lizzy.
Ruth Jane, Festus and Amanda Hailey attended the Christmas parade Saturday night and reported they enjoyed it.
Martha Box says I can catch her when she is so tied up! LOL
“I was in the floor lifting up the recliner I just flipped over just to clean house!” she explained. “Thank Heavens my lifters still work, muscles scream but not as loud as I did during that lift!”
Martha got the tree up Thanksgiving night but that is all the Christmas she has done.
“But hey it is not the world’s birthday anyway. And I try to give Jesus a gift every day. Because of the GIFT HE IS TO US!” she explained.
Martha had a wonderful visit at Tillatoba Baptist Church Sunday and reported a great a message from Bro. Harris and wonderful visit with friends and neighbors.
After a long nap she went to a wonderful gathering at Willow Springs Assembly of God.
“J.G. Henderson played that violin so well I felt the words to each song. I mean I was at the manger on the night CHRIST was born!!!” she added.
I watched him on Facebook, Martha, and he is good!!
She said that words he shared between songs also lifted them up, encouraging her to share Jesus even more than she already does.
Now let me get up and get started because It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas and I am behind, she says.
Martha’s Christmas Eve supper will include tomato gravy, sausage gravy, fried taters and biscuits on Christmas Eve and she said come on over and eat! That sounds wonderful, Martha and thanks for the invite!
Diane Dukes went to Oxford to the doctor Monday morning. Sunday she and her daughter, Terri, went to church and then they shopped around in Oxford and bought gift cards. They had to be back home by three so she and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Dukes, could go to Willow Springs Church of God to see John Grayson Henderson. They saw Nancy Chambers, Anna Pullen, Joanna Pullen, Betty Sue Chambers, Jeanie Lou Chambers, and all of the church members were there. She reported it was a lot of fun talking to old friends and visiting with all the church members. She really enjoyed talking to Vickie Snyder. Vickie’s children are all grown now.
“I told her I was old now, seeing that her children were all grown. We had a good laugh about that,” Diane said.
Diane said she thought it did her good to get outside and visit instead of staying in the house all the time
Diane’s sister, Ellen Parker, is suppose to come from Greenville and is gonna stay till Friday or Saturday. But I think I’m taking her home Friday, says Diane, so I can have all her presents and things ready to go back with her.
She is glad Christmas is almost done.
Diane invited me to come see her decorations, especially the tree she decorated for Jimmy, her late husband. “Everybody said I did a really good job, so be sure and come to visit me,” she said!
Darlene Moorman said, “Guess what? No more laundromats, got me a new washing machine Saturday and they are bringing it as we speak! That may not be news to some folks but, boy it is to me. I have been going to that laundromat for three months now.”
Her great-grandson, Elias Beck spent the night with her.
