Lynn Marceleno’s children came home for Christmas. Joseph and his new wife came in Thursday before Christmas and left Christmas Day going back to Virginia. Carley and Josh came in that Saturday night and left a day after Christmas going back to home is Floresville, Texas. Their dad got to eat dinner with Carl and Mildred Kendall Sunday and again on Christmas Day.
Our visitors Monday were Liz McKinney of Gore Springs and Larry Franklin of Hardy. Liz had been to Charleston visiting her cousin, Wanda McKinney, and Larry had been to Southaven visiting his son.
Nothing much going on this weekend reported Debbie McCool. Last weekend Debbie and Tommy, and Tommy’s sister, Alice Kellum, went to Leland and spent the night. They visited with Tommy’s and Alice’s sister in Leland and had a good time.
Please continue to pray for Davin Rowland. They are moving him to Atlanta!
Martha Box says a whole lot of gratefulness that the Fattening Holidays are over. She is back into the sensible-gotta-do- this-right attitude. She reported she was fed well with chicken livers at the country store Wednesday, adding those girls sure know how to cook.
Martha managed a great walk for exercise in Walley World two times last week. She walked out without spending a penny! She also reported several friends said last week how much they enjoy reading this column.
Ginger fed Martha a great lunch/supper with Phil and the boys joining them at the table. They enjoyed great food, a great visit and fun game of scrabble as Ginger, Jake and Martha played.
All that and such a blessed spirit-filled message at Tillatoba Baptist Church. Great word, and a great visit with old friends and neighbors.
“I am so blessed!,” Martha added.
Yes, you are Martha and loved!
On Christmas Day, David Deck went to Cleveland and visited his son, Derek Deck and family.
I think Derek must have cleaned out his freezer because David was loaded down with barbecue and stew. I was sick and couldn’t go.
Logan Deck and son, Mills, met them over there. Logan’s wife was also sick with the same stuff that kept me from going.
Logan sent home a Cajun dish that was really good.
Ginger Harrison has been busy packing Josh’s clothes back up as he will head back to college. We sure will miss him. His brother, Jake, leaves next week.
Just me speaking, but I think Ginger is having that empty nest syndrome.
Daisy Isbell said she is staying home trying to stay warm and away from sick people. I’m doing the same, Daisy, but I can’t hide from sickness it looks like.
Lynn Hoop is home sick and running low on propane. She was worried, because it was supposed to get bad Monday and Tuesday. She was trying to stretch it to Wednesday. Lynn, I hope you feel better soon. That old crud is rough! We have gas heaters going and electric heaters. Since David’s heart attack, he stays cold. I guess it’s the blood thinner he has to take.
We had a surprise visit from Susan Bell Sunday afternoon and Sunday night. We love when Susan visits. She had spent the weekend with her sister, Sheila, And Bob Bailey of Grenada.
Happy Birthday to Jolacy Irwin, Hazel Harris and Kylie Ballard on the 9th; Roble Tuberville and Kim Ayers celebrate on the 10th; Jo Anna Pullen and Erik Bailey share a birthday on the 11th; Bryan Hollis on the 12th; Marnie Box on the 13th; Max Lindley, Deborah Sanders and Keri Elizabeth Harris on the 15th; and Trevor Croy and Rachel McCullar share a birthday on the 16th. I pray all of you have a wonderful day.
I got the sweetest letter from Josephine Martin of Coffeeville Monday morning telling me how much she enjoyed meeting David and me in the eye clinic at Oxford. You made our day too, Mrs. Josephine. Her word of advice: Strike up a conversation with a stranger. You never know how God can use you to make someone’s day. You made our day too and I pray you are getting good reports on your eyes! Thank you so much for your kind words.
