Nativity, TIN Plan Mardi Gras Parade

A Mardi Gras parade is planned in Water Valley by the Church of the Nativity and TIN (This is Noteworthy). Parade participants will gather at the Nativity (609 North Main) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

Duncan Gray, the Vicar at the Nativity, invites everyone to join in the fun that will include plenty of beads.

“We are inviting kids to bring wagons, bikes, tricycles, strollers – bring some silliness to have some fun with it,” Gray said.

Members of the Water Valley High School Band will lead the parade that starts at 5 p.m. and heads south on Main Street to the TIN building at 16 South Main.

A post-parade celebration will follow at TIN from 5:30 to 7 p.m. featuring gumbo tasting, red beans and rice, beer and bevies, brass music and a 40 Days of Lent Art Installation.

TIN founder Becca Finley reported pre-parade activities are also planned Saturday, Feb. 10 at the TIN building. Participants can come make their own umbrellas and masks for the parade while supplies last.

“We will have free supplies and instructions on how to make them,” Finley added.
