James Steve Oswalt

COFFEEVILLE – Mr. James Steve Oswalt, 73, of Coffeeville, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at his residence. He was born October 25, 1950 in Eupora to Jim and Louise Oswalt.

Steve felt a strong calling on his life to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Following his time in the Marines, Steve joined and faithfully served in the Mississippi National Guard at Camp McCain and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Steve was blessed with the ability to fix anything and used that ability to enjoy a successful career as a mechanic both in the military and in his civilian life. An avid outdoorsman, Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his four-wheeler.

In accordance with his wishes, memorial service plans are private. McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Oswalt; four sons, Michael (Nichole) Oswalt of Katy, Texas, Keith (Dawn) Oswalt, also of Katy, Texas, Heath (Dawn) Oswalt of Japan and Harold (Marcia) Lee of West Monroe, La.; two daughters, Angie Hodges of Savannah, Ga. and Valerie Lee of Coffeeville; one sister, Dorrine LeBlanc of Greenville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret Oswalt and brother, Jeff Oswalt.
