Hello community members, I am back with more exciting news to share this week about how much fun the students had last week.
To kick it off, the 2024 South All-Stars have been selected for the 12th Annual Northeast Mississippi Football Coach’s All-Star game. This game is held annually and benefits teams by giving the selected players’ school positive publicity. It also gives the players the advantage of visibility from fans and, more importantly, collegiate coaches.
Three seniors from the Water Valley High School were selected: #1 defensive back Ty Pritchard, #3 Wide receiver Taylen Johnson, and #78 offensive lineman Jack Woodard. Prior to the All-Star game, Northeast will hold a meeting to discuss all aspects of the game and team practices. Players will even stay on the campus with fellow players to bond before the game.
Congratulations to these senior players, as they will suit up for one last game! Be sure to come out and support them on May 15 at Corinth High School, kickoff is at 6 p.m.

Senior Blue Devil football players earning accolades are (from left) defensive back Ty Pritchard, wide receiver Taylen Johnson, offensive lineman Jack Woodard and Linebacker Will Embry.
Senior Will Embry was also recognized for a multitude of accomplishments. Embry has worked hard on the field and his perseverance also extends to the classroom. He was awarded the Memphis Area National Football Foundation Scholarship.
The presentation will be during a black tie dinner in Germantown on April 22. Embry was also awarded the National Brandon Burlsworth “Greater” High School Character Award by the Brand Burlsworth Foundation.
Congratulations to all of our prospering football seniors!
This past Thursday, students at Water Valley High juniors and seniors enjoyed an educational trip to a local job fair in Oxford. The job fair provided knowledge about different occupations as well as standard college information. This was an enjoyable and informative trip offering something for everyone. After each student discussed their future with representatives from people within their job interest, we went out for a nice lunch and many even returned with sweet treats in their bags from shopping. Thank you to Water Valley High for this excellent opportunity.
Aside from the sports action and heading back to the classrooms, the art students have been hard at it! Each art class submitted a piece to a state-wide competition titled “Promote the Vote.” This art project encourages students to create a piece that promotes voting to help spread the importance of civic engagement in younger generations. What better way to do that than through an art contest?
Several students from Water Valley were selected as the 2023 Promote the Vote Winners. These students will represent their art pieces in Jackson March 21 from 10 to noon. They will be recognized for their artwork and presented with their art certificate by the Secretary of State, Michael Watson. Be sure to follow along with these artistic students, as they have so much more in store for the year!
This concludes the fun for the week. See you next time, as the Blue Devils will share their last few activities before a well-deserved week-long spring break!

Members of the Water Valley High School Interact Club are working on completing a project to put banners up around the school. Interact club members sold tickets back in the fall for a Blue Devil gift basket and all proceeds were used to purchase the banners.
