Edna Shirley Moore
WATER VALLEY – Edna Shirley Moore, age 76, of Water Valley died Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Shirley was born January 23, 1948, in Newton to the late Daniel and Edna McGregor. She will always be remembered for her gentle spirit and warm smile that touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her passion for sewing and crocheting not only showcased her creativity, but also served as a way to spread warmth and joy to those around her. As a devoted assistant teacher for the Coffeeville School District, she impacted the lives of countless students with her kindness and dedication.
Shirley’s love for her family and friends was evident in every conversation and visit, bringing comfort and laughter wherever she went. This care-giving spirit was also felt by the late Arnold Wayne Carothers, whom she devoted her love and time to in the last days of his life. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Visitation was held Friday, April 5, in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Services followed at 3 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Burial was at Coffeeville City Cemetery.
Shirley is survived by three sons, Tony Moore of Easton, Pa., Michael Moore of Coffeeville and Kenneth (Jeri) Moore of Carrollton; five grandchildren, Shelby Moore, Cammie Moore, Evey Moore, Nathan Moore, and Stewart; a former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Horton Moore of Grenada; a sister, Dorothy Ann Dennis of Water Valley; a brother, Daniel “Danny“ J. McGregor, Jr. of Horn Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lamar Moore; and parents Daniel James McGregor, Sr. And Edna Earl Thomas McGregor.
