WATER VALLEY – You’re invited to the much-anticipated Annual Chamber Reception hosted by the Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce at the Fountain Square Event Plaza on Tuesday, April 30. This event promises an unforgettable evening filled with fellowship, entertainment, and the acknowledgment of remarkable community members.
Beginning at 6 p.m., guests will be warmly greeted to savor delightful refreshments while enjoying live performances by crowd favorites Joe Austin and Brian Sherwood.
In keeping with tradition, Mayor Tommy Reynolds of Water Valley will deliver the city’s state of the city address. This marks his inaugural address since assuming office in February. With his notable 44-year tenure as a state representative, Mayor Reynolds brings a deep understanding of the challenges not only within the city but also across the wider region. This event holds great significance for Water Valley, offering a platform for Mayor Reynolds to share insights and set the course for his administration’s priorities.
Additionally, Kagan Coughlin, Executive Director of the Yalobusha County Economic Development District, will provide insights into ongoing initiatives and upcoming developments within the county.
Furthermore, we’ll be honoring the recipient of the esteemed Braswell Hatcher Community Service Award. Established in 1998, this award pays tribute to individuals who exhibit exceptional selflessness and dedication in enriching our community. The recipient’s identity will remain confidential until the night of the presentation, adding an element of anticipation to the event.
During the event, the members of the 2024-2025 Chamber board and officers will be introduced, showcasing the diverse talents and expertise that will drive the organization forward in the coming year.
Another distinguished honor to be bestowed is the Elliott Scholarship, awarded to a deserving senior from Water Valley High School. The Elliott Scholarship goes beyond academic excellence, emphasizing the importance of service and character development. It serves as a testament to outstanding young individuals whose actions embody a dedication to improving our community.
We eagerly await the opportunity to welcome community members to this remarkable evening, celebrating the spirit of Water Valley and recognizing those who contribute to its vitality. Join us as we unite to commend excellence, leadership, and service in our cherished town.
