WATER VALLEY – Fifty-five Water Valley High School seniors are candidates for diplomas in Thursday night’s graduation ceremony. The commencement will begin at 7 p.m. on Bobby Clark Field.
Class Historian Jacob Crawford will share the class history during the commencement. Will Embry will deliver the salutatory address, followed by recognition of the honor students by STAR teacher Vaughn Daniels.
Honor students are Evelyn Brooks, Tiara Brown, Jacob Crawford, Ashlyn Darby, Nethanel Dunn, William Embry, Mya Harden, Jordan Morgan, Jazmin Stewart and Summer Webb. Students must have a cumulative average of 90 or higher for honor student distinction.
Nethanel Dunn will deliver the address. Water Valley School District Superintendent Drew Pitcock will present the diplomas.
Pitcock reported that school officials will closely monitor the weather.
“There is always a chance of inclement weather this time of year,” Pitcock said. “I am going to look at the radar, if we can find an hour-long window, we are going to get it done Thursday night. The worse case scenario is we have to push it back to Friday night at 7 p.m. or even
Saturday, but our goal is to get it done Thursday night,” Pitcock said.
Information about the graduates is included in the Herald’s B Section.
