Welcome back to another fun insider of the blazing Blue Devils! This week, the students, teachers, and staff indulged in many memories as the time is counting down until graduation! Grab a snack and sit back to read what’s in store!
The student council members had a magnificent Monday as they literally bounced into the week! After a full year of hard work, constant school projects, planning, and pepping up the school, they earned a full day of fun! The council headed out bright and early, before school could even start they were loading the bus! The students headed to Senatobia, where they would conquer the ultimate Whippersnappers! A place full of trampolines, scary heights that lead to foam pits, and non-stop laughter.
Once the jump party was complete, the students went their separate ways for lunch before meeting back up to head home. This student council is well deserving for all of their determination throughout the year to make Water Valley High a better place!
The senior class had a terrific Tuesday as many of them reported to Oxford’s Northwest Community College Campus to sign for scholarships they were awarded! Many received multiple scholarships that will help in the financial aid aspects of their college experience. With being awarded these scholarships comes great honor. Many of the awards were dedicated to memorable people. Not only did these seniors have to sign to accept them, but they also had to write numerous letters to the donor of their scholarship! These students have a bright future ahead of them as a rowdy Ranger!
Select varsity Blue Devils had a wonderful Wednesday as they kicked off their night one last time on the football field!
Number zero Ty Prichard, number three Taylen Johnson, and number 78 Jack Woodard were all selected to play in the annual Northeast “All-Star” Classic as a part of the south team! These three players stayed on campus in the dorms and experienced a full three days of what it’s like to be a college-level athlete! They endured early a.m. practices and long afternoon drills with minimal breaks!
While tiring, the players said it was an enjoyable experience! Their time at Northeast even ended in a big victory as the south team conquered the north, winning 9-0! Congratulate these three seniors for earning a spot in the annual All-Star Classic!
The Senior Class of 2024 had a thoughtful Thursday as they all gathered to celebrate their honors, academics, scholarships, and youthful moments before heading into the real world. Seniors started the morning by loading the bus for one last group ride to the elementary school for a walk-through down memory lane.
The elementary students, teachers, and staff welcomed the senior class with loud chants, claps, victorious high fives, hugs, and big smiles! The seniors received the same treatment as they entered the halls of the junior high and high school and marched their way into the gymnasium for senior awards day!
Class members were awarded and recognized for all of their hard work and dedication throughout the school year. When the recognition ended, the seniors watched a heart-warming slideshow of all of their childhood memories!
Ending the week off strong, a Fantabulous Friday was held as the first day of exams now complete! Students are relieved as their testing is finally complete. Teachers began packing up their rooms for the summer and are preparing for the next school year!
And this concludes your weekly update right from within the Blue and White! Graduation will be held Thursday, May 23, at 7 p.m. at the Bobby Clark Field! Community, be sure to show up and support as the senior class of 2024 walks the stage!
See ya’ next week!
